Frequently Asked Questions – CarbonCut 1290Common questions about the CarbonCut 1290 3-Axis CNC Machine The CarbonCut 1290 has a large working area of 1200 x 900 MM (X x Y) with a Z-axis travel of 150 MM (customizable). The overall machine footprint is 1600 x 1350 MM, making it one of the largest tabletop-class composite CNC machines available. The CarbonCut 1290 features an embedded waterbath built into the machine's base plate. Before machining, the material is submerged underwater, which traps all harmful carbon fibre and fiberglass dust as sludge — completely eliminating airborne hazards. The sludge can be stored and disposed of later. The composite superstructure is rust and corrosion resistant, so water can remain in the bath for months without any damage. This eliminates the need for expensive heavy-duty vacuum systems and additional safety equipment. The CarbonCut 1290 uses a 2.2 KW / 3 HP Teknomotor spindle sourced from Italy, rated for continuous operations. It reaches up to 24,000 RPM, uses an ER20 collet with Manual Tool Change (MTC), and is controlled automatically via VFD through G-code/M-code. Certified spindle runout is less than 20 microns, with tested runout below 10 microns. The CarbonCut 1290 is built on the world's first Composite Superstructure CNC chassis, made from Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass. This construction eliminates sagging, hogging, rust, and corrosion — issues common with conventional steel frames. The superstructure carries a Lifetime Warranty under normal operating conditions. The machine itself comes with a 1-year warranty covering all parts, with optional extended warranties and maintenance contracts available for up to 10 additional years. The CarbonCut 1290 has a certified repeat positioning accuracy of less than 50 microns. In real-world tested conditions using Mitutoyo calibrated instruments, the machine consistently delivers between 15–25 microns (0.015 to 0.025 MM). All axes use Hiwin/THK (or equivalent) 20 MM rolled ball screws for drive and 25 MM linear guides with guide blocks for motion. The drive motors are Tamagawa NEMA 34 stepper motors made in Japan. The machine uses a fixed bed / moving gantry system with simultaneous 3-axis motion and full interpolation. The CarbonCut 1290 ships with a LinuxCNC-based desktop PC controller, pre-installed and fully configured in plug-and-play condition. It includes a 22-inch Full HD monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Spindle speed control and automatic mist cooling can be triggered via G-code. The system is fully compatible with SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion 360, and other major CAM platforms. Other non-PC controller options are also available on request. The CarbonCut 1290 supports a very wide range of materials: carbon fibre, fiberglass, aramid composites, aluminium, EN untreated steel (EN 8/24/31/32), copper, brass, bronze, zinc, magnesium, lead, gold, silver, platinum, graphite, epoxy, ABS, polycarbonate, acrylic, plastics, copper-tungsten, PCBs, wood, MDF, foam, ACP sheet, rubber, silicone, and other soft metals and alloys. No. The CarbonCut 1290 is built with zero Chinese parts. Up to 75% of components are Made in India — including the controller, drivers, power supply, VFD, switches, and fan. The spindle is sourced from Teknomotor, Italy, and the stepper motors are Tamagawa NEMA 34 units manufactured in Japan. Yes. The CarbonCut 1290 supports diode laser compatibility, making it a 2-in-1 laser and spindle machine. Laser functionality is available with the Arduino Controller option only. This allows you to switch between CNC milling and laser engraving/cutting without buying a separate machine. |
